Radeon HD 5850 Preiserhöhung

AMD hat den Preis der Radeon HD 5850 erhöht, und zwar von 299 auf 319 US-Dollar. Als Gründe werden die hohe Nachfrage sowie hohe Kosten bei Herstellung und Logistik genannt.

AMD Sprecher Jay Marsden:

"Due to the accelerated ramp of the ATI Radeon HD 5800 series products to meet overwhelming demand at a time when a recovering computer industry is limiting supply on some parts, AMD is incurring higher component, memory and logistics costs. While many of our products are impacted by these increased costs to varying degrees, we are only adjusting pricing on the ATI Radeon HD 5850 product at this time."

Das klingt, als würden bald weitere Preiserhöhungen bei anderen Produkten folgen. Allerdings überlässt es AMD den Partnern, ob sie die Preise anziehen, denn weiter sagt Marsden:

"We are confident that even with this price change, the ATI Radeon HD 5850 continues to offer outstanding performance per dollar for the enthusiast community [...] On average you could see a + increase by some partners for their Radeon 5800s.  Some partners are already charging that for their boards so the increase will be defined and rolled out by partner."
